The Brown University Library is pleased to announce the 2013 Undergraduate Award for Excellence in Library Research. Up to two awards of $750 are given annually for undergraduate research paper(s) which make extensive and original use of library resources. Specific criteria, contest rules and application procedures may be found here. Application deadline is March 15, 2013.
Last year’s winner, David Adler ‘14, wrote a remarkable paper on the little-known conservative grassroots organizer Brian Bex entitled “A Sargent of Industry.” Adler made extensive use of the Hall-Hoag collection in the John Hay Library and through his contact with Bex actually ended up adding new materials from Bex to the John Hay’s collection.
